Stress-Reducing Conversation For Couples

It is important to ask your partner how their day was, or something like " What was the most exciting thing that happened to you today?" When you do start the "how was your day" convo stick with these guidelines:


  1. When you ask your partner about their day remember that they are not raising their voice at you, but they are releasing pressure and built up anxiety and pressure. It is nice to have someone to be able to vent to.
  2. Do not give advice! Do not try to solve their problem. They simply want someone to listen, and not judge, or solve. 
  3. Show that you are interested in what they are saying. Keep your phone put away, and give them your full attention.
  4. Communicate with them that you understand what they are saying. Maybe show some empathy for what they are dealing with and experiencing in their day.
  5. Always take their side. No matter what you think, or if you think your partner is wrong. Always imply to them that you are on their side, and create us against them attitude.
  6. show affection to them. Give hugs and kisses to show this.
  7. Validate their feelings.
